Tips on Hair and Skin Care for Swimmers

The beautiful swimmer, Charlene Wittstock married the Prince Albert of Monaco on July 2, 2011 in a serene ceremony. Do you wonder how the former Olympic swimmer has maintained her gorgeous skin and healthy hair? Normally, we tend to suffer from dry skin and damaged hair after a couple of swimming sessions itself. But, if the right hair and skin care is taken before and after swimming, you too can maintain your beauty! No more do you have to restrain yourself from jumping into the pool on a hot summer day or reduce your swimming time. Follow these tips on hair and skin care for swimmers and swim like a gorgeous mermaid.

Hair and Skin Care Tips for Swimmers

Before Swimming

- To prevent the greenish tinge in your hair due to copper oxidation by chlorine, invest in a bottle of coconut oil or olive oil. It will hydrate your hair cuticles with a protective layer of moisture that seals them and prevents the chlorine and boric acid from leaving a green tone to your blonde or colored hair.
- Always have a shower before you enter the pool, it instantly hydrates the topmost layer of your skin. Wet your hair too. This prevents them from soaking up the chemicals present in the water.
- If you have chlorine-sensitive skin that is prone to rashes after swimming, use a chlorine-neutralizing lotion before you take a dip in the pool.
- Massage your skin with a cream for dry and damaged skin. Do this also after you take shower post swimming.

While Swimming

- Did you know? The salt content and chlorine in the beach or pool water is a major factor contributing to your sunburn. No, you don’t have to stop swimming. Take a two minute break from swimming and apply a heavy sunblock every half an hour to protect your skin from sun damage. The above two factors also contribute to a chapped and flaky skin situation.
- Carry a bottle of water and keep sipping on it. You can also drink non-alcoholic summer coolers to keep yourself cool and hydrated.
- Always wear a well-fitting swimming cap.

After Swimming

- Always wash your hair with an EDTA-containing clarifying shampoo to ensure that no chemical residue is left behind in your hair after you come out of the pool.
- Add apple cider vinegar to the last rinse of your hair. It is a natural remedy to remove product residue in your hair that makes hair look flat.
- Do not forget to apply a conditioner. A hair mousse or leave-in conditioner is also a good option if you are pressed for time.
- Supplement your diet with a multivitamin tablet and an omega-3 capsule.
- Frizzy hair is a common problem among swimmers. Use styling products that are silicone-based with a volumizing shampoo. A hot oil treatment every night is also a good option for hair care for swimmers.
- Use an exfoliating face wash and bath gel.
- Regularly apply cucumber juice to sunburnt skin and leave it overnight. It helps reduce sun damage already done to the skin.
- Weekly, apply mayonnaise evenly throughout your hair, covering the ends as well. It provides intense hydration to your hair and will get rid of the problem of ‘swimmer’s hair’.
- Mix honey and yogurt together and leave it on your face for 20 minutes for a cooling and exfoliating face mask. It also moisturizes the skin. You may add oatmeal to this paste.
- Finish your bath with a heavy duty moisturizer and body lotion or oil.
- Add a few capsules of Vitamin A and E to your night cream.
- Don’t wear tight and synthetic clothing after a swim.
- Scrub yourself every alternate day. Mix salt and brown sugar in olive oil, scrub vigorously. Alternatively, you can also use baking soda for the same.

Immediately take a shower after you come out of the pool. It will help keep your skin clean and chlorine-free. Also, you should regularly wear swimming goggles to protect your eyes from drying as well. You can apply cooling eye drops later. There are brands selling swim care shampoos for kids. You can try one of those too. They are formulated to gently wash out the chlorine from your hair, prevent brittleness and get rid of sticky hair after swimming. There are several chemicals and industrial wastes dumped into the sea that affect the quality of water at the beach too. You must take proper hair and skin care before and after swimming. Start your beauty routine now, before it is too late.

Tips on Fast Weight Loss for Teenage Girls

- Water
You would be surprised to know that water actually aids in weight loss! Water is instrumental in removal of wastes and toxins from the body. It maintains the proper functioning of the liver, an organ which helps in converting fats into energy. Moreover, water acts as an appetite suppressant. If you drink a glass of water fifteen minutes before a meal, you would observe that your food intake goes down a bit. Looking at all these benefits, drinking two to three liters of water everyday is a must in diets for quick weight loss for teenage girls.

- Balanced Diet
To achieve fast weight loss for teenage girls, taking a balanced diet is very important. Diets that work fast for teenage girlsare those which supply the right amount of essential nutrients and vitamins to the body, including fiber, proteins, carbohydrates, calcium and iron.

+ Complex carbohydrates such as those found in oatmeal, cereals, brown rice, brown bread, beans and lentils, should be consumed everyday, especially at breakfast as they keep the body energetic throughout the day.
+ Proteins aid in building muscles. As a teenager’s body is still in the growing phase, protein-rich healthy foods, such as lean meats, fish, eggs, spinach and broccoli, are a must in the diet.
+ Fiber rich foods such as papayas, broccoli, prunes, apples, etc. aid in weight loss. These foods keep the body full for a long time and thus, a person’s overall food intake goes down. Another reason why teens aiming for weight loss should eat fiber rich foods is that they remove the wastes from the body, which would have otherwise accumulated as fats.
+ Fruits and vegetables should form a major part of a teen’s diet. They are rich in many vitamins and nutrients and the best part is that they have fewer calories. Easy weight loss for teenage girls can be achieved if two-thirds of the daily diet is made up of fruits and vegetables.

- Foods to Give Up
There are certain foods that should be completely eliminated from the diet, such as, aerated drinks, fast foods, fried foods, high sugar foods like cakes and pastries, processed foods, high caffeine foods and beverages like chocolate, tea and coffee. To achieve quick weight loss for teenage girls, if you can not give them up, at least their intake should be limited to the minimal.

- Exercise
For any weight loss plans for teenage girls to be successful, dietary changes should be combined with a regular exercise regimen. The exercise routine should comprise cardiovascular exercises such as swimming, running, walking, aerobics or dancing, weight training, resistance training and flexibility exercises. If you are really serious about your weight loss goals, preferably exercise under a professional trainer. He will be in a better position to make a customized exercise schedule for you depending upon your body shape.

- Some Other Tips

+ Take five small meals rather than three big meals in a day.
+ Snack on nuts and fruits. Give up chips and cookies.
+ Do not skip the breakfast. Your breakfast should be the heaviest meal of the day.
+ Have dinner two to three hours before sleeping. Always take a light dinner. This will aid in better digestion.
+ As far as possible, stick to homemade food. Avoid eating out or eating packaged food.
+ Eat your food slowly. Chew it properly so that it gets digested easily.
+ Undertake stress management by doing meditation, yoga and breathing exercises. As teenage can be a very taxing and traumatic time, undertaking these stress management techniques will benefit both the mind and body of a teen.
+ Increase your physical activities. Walk, instead of driving. Take stairs instead of the elevator. Watch less TV. Help in household chores. By doing this, you will be burning a lot of calories, resulting in weight loss

If these tips on fast weight loss for teenage girls are followed religiously, a fitter, leaner and healthy body is one dream that is sure to come true for many. One last tip before I sign off – Teens should stay away from fad diets or cutting down on their food intake to lose weight. These are temporary, unhealthy solutions, which can prove to be detrimental to the body in the long run. Remember, when it comes to losing weight, taking a healthy, balanced diet and exercising everyday is the key!

Bad Circulation - Am I A Victim?

There are millions of people around the globe taking treatment for bad circulation, and there are many others who suffer from bad circulation, but not aware of that. Most people ignore the symptoms or take it lightly and hence fail to diagnose it in time. When the person dies all of a sudden, then only others realize that he/she was suffering from bad circulation. This is why bad circulation is sometimes referred as a silent killer.

Bad circulation, in medical terminology Peripheral Vascular Disease PVD, is a medical condition which is somewhat similar to carotid artery disease and coronary artery disease. Bad circulation is caused when fatty deposits are accumulated in the inner linings of the artery wall. This accumulation results in the blockage of blood circulation. Bad circulation in arteries leads to the kidneys, arms, hand, legs, and feet. Most people who suffer from bad circulation may have fatty deposits in the arteries of brain and heart. This can cause the death of the patient from heart attack and stroke.

Bad circulation is considered as a serious condition and can result in heart attacks, loss of limbs, stroke, and in many cases even death. However if found in the early stages, bad circulation may be prevented or treated in the early stages with meditation, drug treatment, surgery, life style changes, or mostly a combination of all these treatments.

Some of the main symptoms of bad circulation are legs and or feet falling to sleep, cramping of the buttocks, legs, or feet, pain in the legs, swelling of the legs, tired aching feet; and very low temperature in your hands, arms, legs, or feet. If you feel that you have some or most of the symptoms then you may have been suffering from bad circulation. It is better to visit your family doctor and take a complete check up. Bad circulation can be diagnosed by a physical examination, ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging angiography MRA, and X-ray angiography.

Some lifestyle changes which can help you to lower your risk include controlling diabetes, quit smoking, controlling blood pressure, and consuming low cholesterol diet. Bad circulation can be prevented to some extend by taking healthy fat free diet and regular exercises.

All we have to do is take a good look at the lifestyle we are living and it should be quite obvious to everyone why this is happening. First of all most people do not get enough exercise which is a crucial factor in allowing our blood to circulate properly. Bad circulation can lead to heart attack and strokes and if that is not enough all the fast food and fatty foods most people eat, only add to the problem.

Digging Into The 3 Most Probable Reasons For Eating Disorders

Eating disorder is very common nowadays and increasingly more people are suffering from it nowadays. While those people generally show specific symptoms which are somewhat similar, there are actually a lot of possible causes that may result in this condition. If you know someone in real life who is suffering from this medical condition and you intend to help them get out from it, the best thing you can do now is to understand what may actually cause this condition in the first place. For your information, here are the top 4 reasons that experts have found to be the most likely contributing factors.

The first reason that causes the medical condition of eating disorder for most people is the difficulty to deal with major life transitions. Queer but true, there are a lot of people out there who always want to lead a life that is monotonous, predictable as well as familiar all the time and preferably without any big turbulence. When major transitions in life such as puberty, loss or death of loved ones, or even loss of their jobs take place, they will incur upon themselves the feeling of losing control completely and will then be helplessly plunged into the state of depression coupled with the condition of eating disorder.

Besides that, there are those who suffer from eating disorder because of family problems. Typically, family problems can be due to the divorce of parents, broken marriage, extramarital relationships as well as poor relationships between parents and children. Once again, sufferers falling into this category typically feel like they have very limited or no control at all over their family problems and there is nothing that they could do to rectify the situation. Prolonged period for being in such a mental state will bring them extreme fear and then slowly lead them into contracting the medical condition of eating disorder.

Another very common cause is the unexpected failure at work or study. More often than not, this affects those who are perfectionists and have very high expectations of themselves. This group of people seldom experience any downs in life as they usually have been having smooth sailing in life all this while. When things fail miserably for them in their work or studies, the whole world would suddenly come crashing down for them. Not only they will be ashamed of the setback, they will feel very guilty and suffer from self-worthlessness too. Ultimately, they will end up in the condition of eating disorder.

Make Up Tips For Lazy Girls

If you hate getting ready in the morning but still want to look great, you’re not alone. Maybe you’d rather get a few extra minutes of sleep than wake up early to put on make up. Well, you’ll be happy to know that there are tips and tricks you can do to shave time off your morning beauty routine. You can still look fabulous without the effort. Below are some ways you can keep hitting the snooze button and still leave your house looking and feeling great.

Skip the foundation: If you have more time or actually manage to get up earlier in the morning, then feel free to add foundation to your morning beauty ritual. Otherwise, you can get away with a skin primer and a good bronzer. Applying the primer on your skin first will keep the bronzer or blush on throughout the day and you won’t need to reapply. But if you don’t have time even for that, then just skip the primer and go straight to the bronzer. Use a large blush brush and apply a few quick strokes all over your face. This will give your skin a nice glow and make you look refreshed.

Use Matte Eyeshadow: Matte shadows are great because the color is really pronounced and it stays on your eye longer than shadow that’s transparent or that has shimmer in it. You also need to apply less of it, so just a few strokes with a good brush or your finger and you’ll be ready to go. Save your shimmery shadows for a night out when you’re feeling more refreshed and have more time to get ready. Or bring some other shadows with you to work and apply it after work when you’re ready to go out. Wholesale cosmetics like eyeshadow are a great bargain from online retailers, and you can get the same selection as in the store but for half the price.

Use an Eyelash Curler: Heating up your eyelash curler with a blow dryer for a few seconds will help it work better and lock in the curl. All you’ll need is just a few strokes of mascara and you’re set. A little mascara and the matte eyeshadow is all you really need on your eyes for a regular day at the office.

If you have time only for one make up item, use lipstick: My mom always says, “A face without lipstick is like an unpainted picture.” If you’re wearing other make up, then you can just wear gloss on your lips. But if you have no other make up on your face, then wearing a darker color lipstick will brighten up your face and make you look more presentable and competent. Every woman should have a good supply of lipsticks in her make up drawer, with colors like red, berry, burgundy and pink. Lipstick is another essential cosmetics item that is great to get wholesale.
